Build your social resiliency

Want to improve your social resiliency?

Build a strong circle of friends.

You could be a person with many relationships. Or just a few. It’s up to you.

For me, it’s a wife, three children, a grade school best friend, and two neighbors who have every tool known to man, not to mention the ones at work and extended family.

Aim high. Show me your friends, and I will show you your future. You are the product of the company you keep. Friends influence. They take up slack. They help you when you need it, and you help them. True friends have the guts to tell you when you are wrong. It is hard to stand up to enemies. But it’s even harder to stand up to your friends.

Healthcare is hard. Lots of insurance, compliance, and screenwork. Hours of it. But once you get past all that screen time, there is the reward of the people-side of healthcare. That’s where your true impact shows. In the meantime, you need a circle of friends to help you get you through.

Tend to your tribe. The well-kept garden is watered and weeded regularly. Be open to others’ short comings. But ready to help. In turn, your circle of friends will help you.

Next week, we look at building financial resiliency.
